GBCE Hero Arts Class

Hi there,

I can't believe that GBCE is this weekend. The time has just flown by.
I'm teaching two classes there - one on Friday and one on Sunday.

On Friday I'm teaching a Hero Arts stamping class. I love Hero Arts stamps - they are so versatile and you can get many different cards/projects from one stamp.

These stamps are only released since September 1st so I have been waiting anxiously for them to arrive - but they are here now and here are some little sneak peaks of what to expect in the class. For those that don't like to colour in - you will be glad to find out there is no colouring.

Hi there,

Got an order from a new customer recently. The brief was - A4 card, the couple spend a lot of time at the beach in Moville, can you include deckchairs, the Irish Independent, murder mystery books and some sign posts to Moville & Newcastle.
Think I managed to include all those things.
I got to use the Pamela West CD from Joanna Sheen and the Cute Companions Summer Stories CD from Crafters Companion. Ultra fine Flowersoft (sand) was used to re-create the beach sand!

So my back to school resolution has to be keeping the blog up to date.

Hero Arts Stamps & Resist Technique

Hi there,

Been really inspired lately by the Hero Arts blog & Jennifer McGuire's blog.
I couldn't wait to get my hands on these stamps to try out the resist techniques.
These cards were used as thank you cards for end of school year.
I stamped with versamark and then heat embossed with white embossing powder then I coloured in with my copics.
Very happy with the final result

Here is a recent wedding card order - I love this topper and I get asked to use it in cards on a regular basis.

On this card I got to use a Spellbinders frame and I embossed the inside part of the frame with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder.

Class cards

Hi there,

No this isn't an imposter - I'm back within the same week. Hope I can do this more often.
Here are the cards that I taught at the Spring Extravaganza. I had three made but only got to do the guts of 2. Classes always fly by.
The class was called 'No Stamp Required', so I was using punches, die-cuts and embossing folders.

First card could be used for a wedding or an engagement.
It is a series of black and white card some of which were embossed using any of the dots folders from Cuttlebug, Sizzix or Crafts Too, heart silhouette punch from Woodware, embossed button punch from Woodware and some ribbon. I used glossy accents and some ribbon on the buttons.

The second card uses a Sarah Kay pyramage sheet, Spellbinders Lattice Pendant and Border dies, coloured card and liquid pearls.

The third card (which we didn't get to finish in class) is made with brads, Woodware flower and daisy punched shapes and the white card was sprayed with Smooch Spritz.

All products came from An Siopa Bui.

Hi there,

Have a memory card full of photos that need to be posted - so here is one or two just to get me going.

It was an order for someone who really helped out a community group I'm involved with. I used a paper pack that came on last month's Cardmaking & Papercraft, I think it was Kate Knight paper.

I'm going to try to post regular blog candy links as I come accross them. They are such a lovely idea. A generous crafter puts together some goodies. Then they do a draw with all the name of those that commented on it.

Thank You & Class Cards

These cards were used to show some basic techniques in the beginners card-making class I've been running. The class is small but it is fun.
I then used both cards as thank you cards.

I used this card to show basic matting and layering.

This card was showing a very underused and easy technique - mulberry tissue & topper.

This card comes from the Joanna Sheen RHS Collection - I also used Crafters Companin Spray & Shine on the pansy decoupage! Will be using this a lot more. Love the final effect.

A birthday card for my friend Mary - House Mouse decoupage - again I used Spray and Shine!

A confirmation card - order using the Ursus embellishmenst from An Siopa Bui.

The decoupage piece is a Forever Friends from Docrafts and the backing paper is from the V&A linen pack from Papermania. Card is finished of with pearls & gems!

Mother's Day Cards

Here is a selection of Mother's day cards for this year

The topper is one of the new 'Recipie' toppers from Flowersoft with some of the lovely new ultrafine flowersoft on the bear. The backing paper comes from a floral DCWV pad.

This pyramage comes from the Crafters' Companion Flower Fairies CD's with co-ordinating backing paper.

Another Flower soft topper with more ultrafine flowersoft - love this stuff. Again the backing paper comes from a DCWV paper pad.

Hi there,

Where is the time going? I'm so distracted lately. Been out socialising - imagine had forgotten what that was like. Going to see Take That this weekend for my sister's hen party and her wedding is on 3rd July. Not to mention all the pre-wedding preparations that have to be done.

Been doing lots of updating on the Siopa Bui website and now have to do some work on the blog for the Great Big Craft Extravaganza that is being held in Athlone in September. So keep an eye out for that.

Not getting much crafting done - but here are some cards from the last few weeks.

Hard to believe isn't it - 4 hot sunny days in a row and more to come.

Have to get used to it - hard life isn't it :-).

So here are two more cards from the summer stories CD (indoor stories) - haven't had chance or excuse to use the outside stories yet - but loving these CDs & stamps.
These are both wardrobe cards - both finished as A5 size - but I use one set of A5 & one set of A6 panoramic scenes from the CD. All the images in the wardrobe are decoupaged.

Summer Stories

Evening!!

What a beautiful day - Summer is here.
And it is not good for blogging :-(.

It is such a shock to the system to have a full day of warmth and no rain. DS kept pointing at the sky yesterday and saying - it's blue, it's not raining, it's sunny - poor lad - they just can't believe it.

Spent the day in Ballinderreen at the Community Games County finals. DD got through the heats and didn't get any further than the semi finals. She is only six and she was competing in under-8's. So very proud of her - she is already planning for next year. She wanted to know when we could go to the under-8 Olympics in China :-).

So back to the crafting. Had quite a few orders over the last few weeks. So over the next few days will be putting some of them up for you to see.

Sunday again!!!

Another week gone - Monday again tomorrow. But it is a study & assignment free week - my course is finished. So more time for other things - including crafting.
Was in Siopa Bui today - there was a demo day for the new Penny Black stamps and the new Sizzix Hello Kitty dies - so many tempting goodies. Not good for the wallet but very good for the crafty stash!!!
Have to start getting more done and showing more pics -my May resolution.

Have to make another 20 wedding invites - sis needs more.

Then it will be time for new crafty projects - I hope.

Been over on Jean's blog and she has some lovely blog candy. Check it out - there is lots of fabby cards there. Lots to inspire you.

May Already

Can you believe it is May already - where is our Summer.

Also can't believe my course finished on Wednesday. Two short assignments to do and I'm finished. Been really busy so not getting to spend time online like I used to.

Had to do this poster with one of the girls from my class last week. We had to do a poster to show how parents can get involved in our fictitious playschool.

Got to use my Cricut - it really comes into it's own when you do bigger sizes.
Used the Paper Dolls cart and the princess cart with Little Mermaid - can't remember the name just now.

More Weddings

I'm on a count down to the end of course and end of assignments.
Will miss the course, but not the assignments.

It must be the time of year, but have orders for all sorts of wedding cards at the moment.
The first is a regular wedding congratulations card. The one in Frence is a wedding blessing announcement. The inside has pictures and french text.

Wedding Invites

All for my sister - who has to be the most easy going bride to be.
120 invites all ready to go.

Happy with them - in the end. Even managed to find this boot box in my stash to finish it all off.
Don't think anyone on here will be getting one in the post - if you do - act surprised.

Been checking out Facebook - another steep learning curve for me.

Easter Holidays

I was so looking forward to the Easter holidays and now they are flying by.

Was in Spiddal last night for a play day at An Siopa Bui.

We were trying out the new delivery of Nestabilities, Glitter Girls embossing boards and a melt pot - will have to go check out the proper name of it.

Anyway there is a nice challenge this month - the theme is scallop - the prize is a set of Nestabilities.

Time flying by again - I must be getting old.

Here are some samples I made for An Siopa Bui. There are two Flower Fairies from Crafters Companion. One is Zinnia decoupaged and put in a deep set frame. There other is a stackerpage Wild Cherry on a Diamond top Fold card. Similar to one I saw on the Crafters Companion Gallery

There there are some shaped cards using the new Colour My World Templates. Apologies for the quality of photos. Need to re-take these pictures when I get my hands on the cards again.
I used flock & cuttlebug on them.

High Schoo Musical card

Definetely the last one for tonight.

Blogging is much more fun than typing up assignments.

Here is the High School Musical card that I had to do in a hurry the other day.

I downloaded the font from the net. Cut it out and used glossy accents. Then stole the stickers that DD got last week when I bought her High School Musical 3.
Bad Mommy. They were lovely 3-d ones. Will have to look for more HSM merchandise. DD and all her friends are mad about it.
Also noticed that DS is getting into it as well .And dare I say it he has better rhythm than his sister. Think there will be a few battles ahead.

Have to find smiley faces or emoctions for blogger - anyone found them yet?

Back again - a bit sooner than I expected.

Here are some recent makes. Some thank you cards for all those that were so good to me while on work experience recently for my Special Needs module of the Fetac Level 5 Childcare course that is just swallowing up my crafting time at the moment.

I used the new Sizzix emblossing folders. Just sanded them after and added some stickles.
I still have to figure the best size card base to use. These are large square cards cut down, but I got to use some of my large stash of small envelopes.
